Man United must accelerate Antonee Robinson move after what he did in 68-touch display
Manchester United have been long-time admirers of Fulham's Antonee Robinson, and now they could finally act on their interest.
The USA international's contract at Craven Cottage runs until 2028, which also means that Fulham are running out of time to cash in.
Harry Wilson's exit to Leeds United shows that players in West London are always seeking new challenges, and very few turn down Old Trafford.
The Red Devils' interest in the 29-year-old left-back has never been a secret, and neither should their impending move for his signature.
Robinson has started all five of the Cottagers' Premier League games so far this season, and the fear of relegation could easily trigger a January escape.
All of these signs point towards Man United finally getting their new full-back, and the scouts simply have to give the green light after his latest display.
Robinson can solve a big problem for Michael Carrick.
Antonee Robinson stars in USA vs Chile
Robinson played the full 90 minutes as Mauricio Pochettino's USA side beat Chile 4-2 in a friendly on Wednesday, 30 September.
While unable to get on the scoresheet, the No.5 did everything but, causing many issues for the opposition during his time on the pitch.
In his 68 touches, Robinson had one shot on target, missed one big chance, completed 100 per cent of his dribbles and accurately delivered a cross [FotMob].
Defensively, he was just as sharp, making three clearances, two interceptions and eight recoveries, as well as winning 60 per cent of his ground duels.
Next to Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu, he seems like the perfect left-back for Michael Carrick's side, and his move may not be that far away.
Where does this leave Luke Shaw?
It would seem that Man United have been in the market for a new left-back for quite some time, but last season, Shaw was one of the team's most consistent players.
At 31 years of age, though, it is certainly time for United to start thinking about life without him, or so you would expect.
Football Insider understands, however, that the Red Devils are planning to offer Shaw a new contract at the beginning of 2027.
The veteran still has a lot to offer, if he can avoid any further injury lay-offs, but he would undoubtedly play back-up were Robinson to join in January.
