Manchester United are planning to make a move for Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn in the ongoing transfer window.

The 30-year-old has reportedly emerged as a target for the Red Devils, who can sign him as a free agent after Nottingham Forest released him.

Senne Lammens has established himself as the undisputed number one under Michael Carrick, but a new number two may be needed ahead of next season.

Gunn was one of the few Scotland players who left the pitch with their head held high as Steve Clarke's team lost 3-0 to Brazil at Miami Stadium on 24 June.

Altay Bayindir's future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, with the 28-year-old Turkiye international struggling for form and minutes in M16.

Andre Onana is set to return to Manchester after his season-long loan spell at Trabzonspor, but the Cameroon international doesn't seem to have a future at the club.

Manchester United shown what they can get with Angus Gunn

Gunn was arguably Scotland's best player on the pitch despite Brazil scoring three goals, two from Vinicius Junior and one from Matheus Cunha.

The goalkeeper made five saves in total against Carlo Ancelotti's side, with four coming from inside the box, and recorded one high claim, as per Sofascore.

What stands out most is that Gunn had a goals-prevented score of 1.8 against Brazil, which means he stopped the South American nation from compounding Scotland's misery.

According to The Sun on 24 June, Man United are looking to offload Onana and Bayindir, with the former Forest shot-stopper now emerging as a possible target to bolster their squad.

Michael Carrick has ambitious transfer plans at Old Trafford

Sources told Football Insider on 21 June that Man United were looking to sign Crysencio Summerville and Matheus Fernandes this summer, having already agreed personal terms with the duo.

The Red Devils should build on their third-place finish in the Premier League this season as they look to compete on all fronts after qualifying for the Champions League.

Gunn, Summerville and Fernandes are certainly needed to add more depth and quality to the Old Trafford side's squad, but surely won't be guaranteed minutes due to the talent at Carrick's disposal.
