Man United are among the favourites to sign Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill this summer with one of the UK's top bookmakers.

Michael Carrick is keen to shake up his squad this summer as United prepare to return to the Champions League.

He has focused on bolstering his midfield ranks in the last few weeks, with Andrey Santos signed from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans soon set to join from Aston Villa.

The Red Devils are also changing their goalkeeping options ahead of the new season, with Altay Bayindir expected to leave the club.

San Lorenzo and Paraguay goalkeeper Gill has emerged onto their radar, according to reports, with United now among the bookies' favourites to sign him this summer.

Veteran stopper Karl Darlow is soon expected to arrive from Leeds, but Gill could also seal a dream move to Old Trafford in the coming weeks.

Man United are 5/1 to sign Orlando Gill this summer

Gill has risen to prominence this summer after some standout performances to help Paraguay reach the World Cup round of 16 stage.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper has been the number one for Argentinian top flight club San Lorenzo for the last two seasons, while also becoming his country's main man between the sticks in that time.

He emerged as one of the World Cup's biggest revelations over the last month, especially after saving two penalties in their famous round of 32 shootout win against Germany.

Kylian Mbappe refused to shake hands with Gill after an eventful round of 16 clash with France, and the Paraguay star has reportedly attracted attention from United as they seek to sign another stopper.

One of the UK's top bookmakers has the Red Devils as third-favourites to be his next club, at odds of 5/1, while 'any Spanish club' is 2/1, alongside Serie A side Torino.

Sources: Celtic turn attention to Radek Vitek deal amid Man United decision

What has Gill said about making a move this summer?

Gill has shone for his country, but also boasts an impressive record for San Lorenzo, keeping 29 clean sheets in 59 appearances for the club so far.

Sources have told Football Insider that United are ready to let Radek Vitek leave on loan again this summer, leaving space for another keeper among their first-team ranks.

The Paraguay star has spoken to media in his home country following reports of a £5.2million release clause being in his contract, saying: "I can’t say yes or no. They told me there is interest, but not a formal offer. I don’t want to get carried away. We’ll sit down and speak with the club to see what is best.

“I have a clause in my contract and I think it has to be respected, then it depends on the club. If it’s good for both parties, we’ll have to reach an agreement."
