Man United should sign a far more advanced talent than JJ Gabriel, he is heading to the very top

Fulham have unearthed one of the most exciting young talents in the Premier League in 19-year-old Josh King.

The attacking midfielder has sparked into life in England's top flight, forcing several high-profile clubs to keep track of his development.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United have all been linked with King's signature in recent windows, and so too have Manchester United.

Of course, Old Trafford is not currently a hot spot for young talent right now, given everything surrounding JJ Gabriel's impending exit.

However, King's performance on Sunday, 20 September, will have just reinforced to Michael Carrick why he simply must add the attacker to his squad.

He played a key role in the Cottagers securing just their second point of the 2026-27 campaign, lifting them off the foot of the Premier League table.

Avoiding the bottom spot in the Premier League table heading into the international break will be a huge boost for Alvaro Arbeloa's side.

Losing King to another Premier League team would not be such a boost, but the West London club may have to come to terms with that idea soon.

It emerged during the summer that Man United were tracking the 19-year-old gem, but a move never materialised, and he stayed at Craven Cottage.

The Red Devils will now be kicking themselves over that decision, especially given his performance this weekend against Carrick's team.

While both goals in the 1-1 draw were scored by United players - a Lisandro Martinez own goal and Matheus Cunha - it was a fine display from the Cottagers.

What did the stats say about King?

It was a tough evening for all players involved, but that didn't stop King from getting stuck in, with the home side getting frustrated.

In 80 minutes, the youngster completed 90 per cent of his passes, had two shots saved, missed one big chance, and made four recoveries [FotMob].

Work rate is clearly not an issue, with King winning 100 per cent of his aerial duels, 50 per cent of his ground duels, while also committing two fouls and winning one.

Although King was cautioned for an act of simulation, some will argue that was extremely harsh, and that he was simply put off balance.

It is unlikely to be long until another team comes along and snatches up his signature, and the Red Devils must ensure they're at the front of the queue.
