Man United to land 'six-figure sum' from JJ Gabriel transfer
Manchester United will receive millions in compensation fees if JJ Gabriel does complete a move away.
That is according to experienced former Aston Villa, Everton and Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
The 15-year-old is reportedly in talks with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, as his representation attempts to force a move away.
Gabriel was said to be in line for his first senior appearance for Man United in the Carabao Cup last week, but now looks set to continue his career elsewhere.
The forward is undoubtedly a special talent, having scored 26 goals in 29 games across all competitions last season at the Under-18 level.
The teenager has scored two goals and provided two assists for the U21s this season, and netted a hat-trick on his UEFA Youth League debut.
JJ Gabriel won't 'walk out of Man United for free'
Super agent Ali Barat has reportedly stepped in to assist Gabriel and his family in securing a move away from Man United.
The founder of Epic Sports, Barat has participated in deals such as Dean Huijsen's move to Real Madrid and Piero Hincapie's move to Arsenal.
"This kid has been at Manchester United for a number of years, and I would imagine Manchester United have invested quite a bit of money in him," King told Football Insider.
"So if they think that he's going to just be able to walk away from Manchester United, there's compensation fees that have got to be paid here.
"I didn't like the sound of agents being involved, but there again, when you get this fellow who's involved at the moment, Ali Barat. His company, Epic Sports. The kid can't officially be represented by a football agent until he's 16.
"He's 16 on October the 6th. So then, of course, there's going to be the rush for who's going to look after him. Ali Barat from Epic Sports, who's already saying, 'Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona.' Hang on a minute. Man United should be in there as well."
"It's not a bad place to start your career, or be looked after as a young player. He's been there four years. Whatever the agent said or whatever's going on here, he isn't going to walk out of Man United for free. That's for sure. There'll be a six-figure sum here if he does leave the football club."
What has Michael Carrick said about Gabriel?
Michael Carrick ultimately has bigger things to worry about than Gabriel, who is yet to make a first team appearance.
"I just think we've got to be really careful of the whole situation," he said when asked about the teenager last week.
"He's a young boy, he's 15 and the biggest [thing] for me definitely and as a club point of view is looking after our younger players. Their welfare, their wellbeing, their exposure.
"And I think all of us we've got to be really conscious of that, really, in this situation. As a club, for sure, we're all involved in those conversations. I just think we've got to be very careful of that."
