xMan United 'will not rule out' selling Amad Diallo as Aston Villa move on the cards

Manchester United have opened the door for Amad Diallo to leave the club amid reports of an offer from Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old has yet to feature for Michael Carrick's side so far this season due to an injury, but has fallen down the pecking order since the new manager's arrival.

While there had been no initial plans to let the Ivory Coast international leave, his departure has not been ruled out, with the club open to offers at the right price.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Amad could leave Old Trafford in search of more regular playing time in the upcoming season.

Bryan Mbeumo has established himself as the first-choice right-winger under Carrick, while the emergence of talented youngster Shea Lacey has raised questions.

Man United will now weigh up whether they think Amad will play a key role for them long-term, or whether they could maximise his value by letting him leave this summer.

Could Man United accept an offer for Amad Diallo?

Brown told Football Insider back in June that Man United could let Amad leave for the right price this summer given his place in the plans under Carrick.

The 23-year-old impressed at the World Cup and has a number of admirers both in the Premier League and abroad, with Aston Villa now the most advanced among them.

While it remains to be seen what Aston Villa have offered for Amad, and any deal would have to suit Man United, the winger's departure has not been ruled out.

"Amad Diallo is going to be one to watch before the window closes," Brown told Football Insider.

"It seems like Aston Villa have made an approach for him, which is interesting, because up until now it did seem like he was going to stay at Man United.

"Michael Carrick has been concerned about his wide options, but there's no doubt Amad is down the pecking order when you look at the other options.

"Bryan Mbeumo is the first choice there, and Shea Lacey is coming through, so it seems like the door could be opened for Amad to leave if he isn't going to be playing regularly.

"So they will not rule out letting him go at this stage, especially if that interest is concrete and there is an offer on the table.

"The price has got to be right for Man United, they can't just let him go on the cheap, but if somebody like Villa comes in with the right offer then it cannot be ruled out."

How does Amad feel about leaving Man United?

Despite Man United having opened the door for Amad's departure in the closing stages of the transfer window, much will depend on whether the winger plans to move on.

Having struggled to nail down a place in the starting XI last season, questions have been asked about his long-term role in the side.

However, Football Insider revealed in July that Amad is keen to stay and fight for his place at Man United, and is prepared to snub interest from elsewhere as a result.

Man United have fielded approaches from a number of interested clubs, with Villa the latest among those, but the Ivory Coast star has no plans to leave Old Trafford.

Carrick is also believed to be keen to hold on to the winger, despite not ruling out his exit, given the lack of quality depth out wide in his squad.
