Man United's new Morgan Gibbs-White plan revealed amid Bruno Fernandes latest
Man United are not ruling out a move for Morgan Gibbs-White in future transfer windows as they look for a long-term Bruno Fernandes replacement, sources have told Football Insider.
Gibbs-White has emerged as one of the best playmakers in the Premier League at Nottingham Forest in recent seasons.
The 26-year-old bagged 15 Premier League goals in the last campaign and has been linked with a move away from the East Midlands as a result this summer.
Man United have been touted to make a move for Gibbs-White, but they are not likely to due to Bruno Fernandes' status in their squad.
The Red Devils are not ruling out a move for the Forest star in the near future, however, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast.
Gibbs-White looks set to stay at Forest this summer, and will have less than one year left on his contract this time next year unless he signs a new deal.
Morgan Gibbs-White to remain on United's radar as imminent move unlikely
Sources have told Football Insider that Oliver Glasner wants Gibbs-White to sign a new Forest contract to ward off suitors this summer and beyond.
United will continue to keep him as an option to potentially replace Fernandes at some point soon, as he will soon turn 32-years-old and is approaching the end of his initial deal at Old Trafford.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "I'd be very surprised if Man United were to move for him in this window. Maybe in later windows they might do, but they've got Bruno Fernandes in that number 10 position, and he isn't going to lose his place in the side to Morgan Gibbs-White.
"We know how vital Fernandes is to United and there's no talk or suggestions that he will be leaving Old Trafford anytime soon either, so I think it's one where United are admirers of Gibbs-White, but the timing is not right for the deal."
Man United have held 'positive' contract talks with Fernandes
Fernandes has remained a key man for the Red Devils under Carrick, with his side set to continue to revolve around him as they return to the Champions League in the new season.
His contract is set to initially expire next summer, but United have the option to automatically extend it by another year.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that United have held positive talks with Fernandes' representatives over him signing a new deal soon, so a move for Gibbs-White may not even be in their plans for next summer.
