Marcus Rashford's last Man United appearance as 'amicable talks' take place over return
Marcus Rashford could make a surprise return to the Manchester United lineup next season with Michael Carrick now in charge.
Ruben Amorim chased the England international out of Old Trafford in 2024-25 before joining Barcelona on a season-long loan last term.
With 14 goals and 11 assists in 49 games, Rashford adored himself to the Barcelona faithful, but the La Liga giants refused to trigger the buy clause in his contract.
All signs now point towards a reunion between the estranged winger and the Red Devils, though a permanent move away can't be ruled out at all.
While there are no guarantees, Fabrizio Romano has reported that "amicable talks" have taken place between United and the player's camp.
With the potential for Rashford to once again feature for his boyhood club, Football Insider has taken a look back at his last game for Man United.
Viktoria Plzen 1-2 Manchester United, 13 December 2024
After being exiled from the squad by Ruben Amorim, Rashford finally joined Aston Villa for six months, where he thrived under Unai Emery.
He then thrived in Spain for 12 months. Before that, his last display for United came all the way back in the Champions League in December 2024.
He made up the attacking trio with Amad Diallo and Joshua Zirkzee, supported by a midfield of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.
Tyrell Malacia and Diogo Dalot were the full-backs, with a back-three of Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in front of Andre Onana.
Thanks to a second-half brace from Rasmus Hojlund off the bench, the Red Devils secured all three points, but it goes to show how much the squad has and hasn't changed at the same time.
It was United's first away win in Europe since March 2023, and now, ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, Carrick's side have returned to the Champions League.
Rashford's greatest moments in a Man United shirt
Rashford has had many incredible moments since breaking through the Man United academy, not least his buzzer-beating penalty against PSG.
Despite missing some key players, a late VAR review allowed the winger to blast home an aggregate-equaliser, completing the comeback at the Parc des Princes.
Add a Manchester derby winner at just 18 years of age and a hat-trick off the bench against RB Leipzig, and he's had some pretty interesting moments for the Red Devils.
