The 19-year-old was given 18 minutes to impress Michael Carrick, and the wide man no doubt achieved this.

Given Amass’ recent display, Carrick cannot let such a talent rot on the bench.

The 19-year-old needs regular first-team football, and the manager needs to ensure that he is giving him as many chances as possible.

There will be numerous games where Amass could be given a start coming up, whether that be in the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup or in a dead rubber Champions League tie.

However, if Amass has not played in at least six matches by January, he must consider loaning him out to a top Championship side.
