Antonio Conte eyes Premier League return amid Man United update
Antonio Conte is keen to return to management and will feature on Manchester United's shortlist if Michael Carrick is sacked, sources have told Football Insider.
Conte has been out of work since leaving Serie A side Napoli after the 2025-26 season.
Carrick has started the season poorly at Old Trafford, with uncertainty over his job starting to build within Manchester.
With the Manchester United job being a role that could open up for Conte.
The 57-year-old has a proven track record in England, with his time at Chelsea encompassing a Premier League title and FA Cup.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Conte is now ready to make his return following a break over the summer.
However, Conte is willing to bide his time and ensure his next role is the right option.
Antonio Conte ready for next managerial role amid Man United uncertainty
Conte is one of the most decorated managers currently available on the market following his decision to leave Napoli.
The Italian is a six-time league-winning manager, including achieving title success in England with Chelsea.
With him likely to be a manager emerging on Man United's radar.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I shared: "If Manchester United do make a decision to look for a new manager and get rid of Michael Carrick, Antonio Conte will be one of the names in the frame.
"Any top club that’s looking for a new manager, Antonio Conte will figure on that wanted list because of his proven track record, and obviously he is available, and it does seem that he’s keen to come back into management having left Napoli last summer as well.
"I don’t think there’s anything pressing on this one just now, Conte I’m sure is happy to have a rest after leaving Napoli as well and he will wait for the right option."
Man United not ready to part with Michael Carrick yet
Sources have also told Football Insider that Man United are in no rush to make a decision on Carrick's future.
The Red Devils are sticking with the Englishman, with the hope that the 45-year-old is able to turn things around, despite the poor start to the season.
If he fails to pick up form, then that is when Conte could be approached by Man United.
With the Italian's previous record of success and his availability, he will be a highly sought-after appointment for many around Europe making managerial changes.
