Man United remain keen on signing Bournemouth star Alex Scott and could accelerate a move after missing out on Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson, sources have told Football Insider.

Scott, 22, has earned plaudits from across English football for his fine performances at Bournemouth over the last few seasons.

He became a regular starter for the Cherries last term and helped them finish sixth to qualify for the Europa League.

His impressive showings have seen Man United linked with his services as they look to bolster Michael Carrick's midfield options.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Scott has risen up their midfield shortlist in recent weeks as other clubs snap up their top targets.

West Ham's Fernandes has completed a move to Tottenham this week, while Nottingham Forest star Anderson is set to complete his move to Man City after the World Cup.

Scott was competing with Anderson for a place in England's squad for the tournament, but missed out on the final 26-man squad.

Man United to accelerate Alex Scott approach after transfer struggles

Scott won the Bournemouth Supporters' Player of the Year award for 2025-26, with four goals and one assist in 39 appearances.

He could arrive at Old Trafford soon as Carrick searches for new additions following Casemiro's departure.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Obviously they've missed out on the likes of Mateus Fernandes...Elliot Anderson was probably always going to go to Manchester City. United dropped out of that race early on when they learned of his price tag.

"There's no doubts they are big admirers of Alex Scott. They have been doing their homework on him. They've been doing background checks and everything else after he had a great season for Bournemouth last year. He was probably unlucky to miss out on the final England World Cup squad as well."

Man United shortlist Felix Nmecha as 'huge' offer to be accepted

Felix Nmecha also on Man United's radar amid midfield search

Nmecha was starring at the World Cup before Germany were surprisingly knocked out at the round of 32 stage by Paraguay.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that United are keen on Nmecha and Borussia Dortmund will agree to sell him this summer.

The German giants will only accept a huge offer for the 25-year-old, though, after he registered nine goal contributions in 47 games last season.
