Leicester to agree '£10m + add-ons' Louis Page deal with Man United
Leicester City could potentially secure as much as £10million if they sell young midfielder Louis Page to Manchester United.
That is according to former Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that it is highly likely that the Foxes will lose their prodigy in the coming weeks.
United are already in talks over a move to sign the 18-year-old, who enjoyed a breakthrough season with Leicester last term, as he made 18 appearances in the Championship.
Page's potential is seen as being sky high both at and away from the King Power Stadium, and Wyness believes that it is in his club's interests for an "auction" to play out in the coming weeks.
United are already working on a deal, but the starlet is also attracting the attention of the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa.
Leicester already have Page tied down to a professional contract, and Wyness expects that it could result in a lucrative payday for them.
Leicester selling their 'crown jewels'
Villa's former chief Wyness - who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs - believes that Leicester are selling the "crown jewels" from their academy to counter the increased losses that will come with being in League One.
Jeremy Monga recently departed for Manchester City, and they are also now likely to lose Page, who was crowned as the EFL's Apprentice of the Year last term.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, he explained why the raft of interest will be beneficial for the Foxes.
"The good thing from Leicester's point of view is that they've got an asset, Apprentice of the Year is quite some tag. And luckily there's interest from more than one or two clubs," Wyness said.
"There could be an auction going on here. What I think will be achieved for somebody this sort of age would be something like a £10m fee plus,the add-ons, the sell-ons, and as we said before, matching rights for the future.
"There are two or three clubs interested, so I think that is quite achievable. We talked earlier about United's more disciplined window, bringing in youth at this sort of level, that sort of price would make sense for United and try and get back to producing out of their own youth system.
"He may not be ready for the first team yet, and so it may be a couple of seasons till he comes out, but yes that's something that I think will be done
"Leicester again are selling all their crown jewels, but nevertheless they're going to have to because of their financial situation, and this is one I think there's a very good deal for both sides."
Joshua Zirkzee could join Premier League rivals
Former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider earlier this week that his former club are happy to accept an offer for forward Joshua Zirkzee this summer.
The Dutchman remains highly-regarded behind the scenes at Old Trafford, but is not expected to be part of Michael Carrick's plans this term.
Zirkzee is understood to have interest from several Premier League sides, and Brown believes United will have no qualms about selling to a divisional rival.
The 25-year-old is also subject to sustained interest from clubs in Italy, providing United with another potential route to offload him.
