Everton seem to be struggling to get in a new manager with it now being over three weeks since Ronald Koeman was sacked by the board.

The Toffees don't appear to have any clue about where they want to take the club with widespread reports that Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright are at odds with one another about what sort of manager they are looking to bring in.

The Daily Mail has recently reported that Everton had an approach rejected by Watford for their manager Marco Silva, who would also possibly cost a great deal in compensation fees having not long signed a deal at Vicarage Road.

Sam Allardyce has also been high in the running, but he has moved to rubbish any claims of talks with it being understood he wants a long-term deal if he was to rescue the Merseysiders, not a short-term fire-fighting role.

So where does that leave Everton? Sean Dyche has been one of the frontrunners with the bookmakers but nothing seems to have come of that and David Unsworth hasn't exactly been convincing in his caretaker role.

That may force the Toffees to go abroad and look at some of the outside bets in the market to make an appointment - someone that no one was expecting last month when Koeman was sacked.

Here, Football Insider looks at three surprises names who Everton must consider after being dealt their latest blow.

Paulo Fonseca (33/1)

Fonseca's name has been on the bookmakers' lists for some weeks now but no one has ever really mentioned his name.

The 44-year-old is currently in charge of Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk and has been somewhat of a journeyman in his career, never spending more than two years at a club.

In total, Fonseca has taken charge of eight different clubs, including two spells with Portuguese side Pacos Ferreira, either side of a stint at Champions League regulars.

Fonseca has experience in Europe's most prestigious competition and is currently finding a winning formula with Donestsk in Ukraine. He would certainly be a left field pick and a risky one, but what other choices to Everton have right now?

Ryan Giggs (33/1)

'Give it Giggsy 'til the end of the season' has become an iconic phrase whenever the Manchester United legend's name is brought up when a manager is in need of replacing, but it certainly would be interesting to see how he would get on in the Premier League.

Giggs was placed in interim charge of Man United in 2014 following David Moyes' sacking, winning two of his four games at the helm, which betters Unsworth's current record.

The Welshman has an in-depth knowledge of the Premier League and a player than everyone in the squad can respect will no doubt be huge in getting the senior players back firing on all cylinders.

Carlo Ancelotti (28/1)

Celtic

It's really odd that Moshiri would want Diego Simeone as the next Everton manager, despite him being contracted to Atletico Madrid, than the currently unemployed Ancelotti.

The Italian was sacked by Bayern Munich after a poor start to the season in September and is still without a job, so surely he would be an easier 'big-name target' for Moshiri to go after.

It wouldn't harm the Toffees by making an approach - Newcastle managed to swoop for Rafa Benitez even though their relegation was almost nailed on and that was a huge surprise.

Ancelotti is a tried and tested winner with AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid so there is not much risk in snapping him up.

SkyBet currently has Watford boss Silva still at evens favourite to be the next man in charge while the outside bets odds may start to shorten the longer this manager search goes on.
