PSG are in the race to sign Marcus Rashford from Man United and have a long-held interest in the move, according to their former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club's most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that a number of clubs have been put on alert by his situation.

This comes after the 27-year-old confirmed: "For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps," in a bombshell interview with Henry Winter.

Following Ruben Amorim's decision to leave Rashford out the squad in their 2-1 win against Man City, speculation had been rife about his long-term future under the new boss.

Now, it appears both parties are ready to move on, and United have been urged to maximise the money they can make from his sale.

Brown explained that the manager has decided Rashford "isn't a huge part of his plans", and instead would use money from his sale to invest in a player who better suits his system.

It has also been said that money raised from his departure could be used to strengthen other areas of the team, such as a new striker and central midfielder.

Man United to use Marcus Rashford sale to back Ruben Amorim

Now, the former scout who has worked closely with players and managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson, has insisted that the forward's departure will have additional knock-on affects on the team.

"PSG have a long-held interest in him from what I've heard," he told Football Insider.

"They're not the only ones though, I think a lot of clubs will have a close eye on this.

"We've got to a point now where it seems like Amorim has decided Marcus isn't a huge part of his plans, and now Marcus seems keen to move on too.

"Man United have got to make sure they can get a good price for him when he does leave.

"Because that will allow Amorim to go out and sign a player who better suits his style.

"Or they could go and strengthen a position they feel needs more focus.

"They've got Garnacho who plays in that position, although there are question marks over him too, he started Mount there against City, and then Fernandes pushed into that role.

"So perhaps they'll use the money from selling Rashford and look to invest in a striker or a new centre-mid which they have been looking at.

"It's certainly going to be an interesting one to follow, because it's not just Rashford leaving, that move will have knock-on affects on the team."
