Leeds United need to secure Tyler Adams to a new contract with a healthy release clause, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Adams will "outgrow Leeds and move to a big club".

The 23-year-old moved to Elland Road from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the summer for a £15million fee and signed a five-year deal with his new club.

He was named as captain for the USA's World Cup campaign and has helped them to reach the knockout stages of the tournament.

Jesse Marsch told Men in Blazers earlier this week (29 November) that Adams has the potential to be an "elite" player.

"Tyler Adams has been outstanding," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"I think he will outgrow Leeds and move to a big club. He's the perfect defensive midfielder, against England, he was outstanding.

"He's a leader, at 23, being captain of America is a big thing.

"I think Leeds will be putting him on a contract where they are guaranteed a decent fee because he won't be there for long."

Adams has started all but one of Leeds' Premier League games this season.

He is now set to earn his 36th international cap on Sunday (4 December) when the USA face the Netherlands in the round of 16 out in Qatar.
