Ajeti 'not bothered' about playing for Celtic after 'he's made his money' - pundit
Albian Ajeti has "made his money" and "looks as if he is not bothered" about playing for Celtic, according to Frank McAvennie.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the Parkhead legend said the club should have signed Brentford striker Ivan Toney last summer instead of the 24-year-old.
Ajeti was dropped from the matchday squad that drew against Rangers on Sunday - the first time this year he has been omitted when available for selection.
As quoted by the Glasgow Times, interim boss John Kennedy revealed he had spoken to the centre-forward regarding his omission, which was decided on the basis of "balance".
A £5million signing from West Ham, Ajeti has contributed six goals and four assists in 27 appearances this season.
When asked for his thoughts on Ajeti's absence last weekend, McAvennie told Football Insider: "Ajeti has not done anything.
"He came on a big money transfer and he has hardly set the world on fire. For £5million in Scotland he should be terrorising defenders and scoring goals.
"I could buy a £5million player that would destroy defences up here. They dithered on Ivan Toney and I would rather have seen him than Ajeti.
"It might be his attitude. He looks as if he is not bothered, he has made his money.
"I just do not get it because when I went out on the park I gave it everything. We might have got beat or played bad but as a team we always gave 100 per cent.
"He needs to go back to basics. There are players at Celtic that need to fall in love with the game again because it looks like they are not liking it at the moment. They are terrified and there are no fans in!"
