Rob Green could become the latest Leeds 2016-17 mainstay to head for the exit door before the transfer window cut-off, according to a report.

The Daily Mail claim Premier League club Huddersfield Town are weighing up a swoop for the veteran goalkeeper as manager David Wagner aims to bolster in that position.

It is said that Wagner "might move" for ex-England international Green to compete for a first-team spot with Jonas Lossl, who signed on a season-long loan this summer.

The Huddersfield manager has been assessing his options after losing Danny Ward back to Liverpool after his successful loan spell came to an end.

Green, 37, played all 46 Championship games for Leeds last season and was a favourite of former manager Garry Monk.

But he has lost his regular starting spot this season following the summer signing of German Felix Wiedwald from Werder Bremen.

The Mail report that Green, who is contracted to Leeds until next summer, is keen on a return to the Premier League.

In the past week, Leeds have sold two other mainstays from last season, with striker Chris Wood joining Burnley for £15million plus add-ons and Liam Bridcutt moving to Nottingham Forest.
