Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to express their frustration and disappointment at the selection of Granit Xhaka for their Premier League clash against Manchester City.

The central midfielder has been a mainstay of the team this season and, like Petr Cech and Hector Bellerin, has been selected to start all 28 of their league fixtures.

But supporters have grown increasingly frustrated with the performances of Switzerland international, who joined from Borussia Mochengladbach in the summer of 2016 for £35million.

Xhaka, 25, was regarded by many as failing to pull his weight in last Sunday's League Cup final defeat to Man City at Wembley.

Wenger has persisted with him for the second clash against Pep Guardiola's side in five days and he will once again partner Aaron Ramsey in midfield.

The decision has not gone down well with the Emirates Stadium faithful.
