Birmingham have sacked Harry Redknapp after his side suffered defeat at the hands of Preston on Saturday - and naturally Aston Villa fans were quick to give their thoughts on social media.

Blues announced on their official Twitter account that they had "parted company" with the experienced manager after a string of poor results which saw them just win one of their opening eight games of the Championship season.

Aston Villa haven't had the best start to the campaign themselves with many wanting Steve Bruce removed from his role as manager at Villa Park.

However there was a pause from the doom and gloom as fans took to social media to mock their bitter Second City rivals as Redknapp suffered the chop at St. Andrew's while the Villains were in the process of hammering Barnsley.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Villa fans were clearly in celebratory mood on Saturday after Redknapp was sacked and they managed to return to winning ways by beating Barnsley at Oakwell, easing pressure on Bruce.

Redknapp spent big in the summer transfer window to try and improve his Blues side but it seems it was to no avail despite breaking the club's record spend on Jota when he made a £6million move from Brentford.

Lee Carsley has stepped in to replace Redknapp as caretaker manager.
