Aston Villa are planning a fresh move for Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica ahead of the summer window, Football Insider has learned.

The Midlands giants held talks last summer over prising the wide man from the Bundesliga club but a deal could not be agreed.

A Villa source has told Football Insider that Rashica, 24, is on the club's shortlist of potential wide forward signings going into the next transfer window.

The plan is to sign two senior attackers who can play out wide, either side of the main striker, in Dean Smith's favoured 4-2-3-1 formation.

Villa are prepared to spend big for the players, just as they did when recruiting Ollie Watkins, Bertrand Traore and £11m loan capture Ross Barkley last summer.

Rashica is a versatile forward who can operate on both flanks as well as down the middle.

At Bremen, the 31-times Kosovo international has had a mixed season although his form has noticeably picked up in the last few months.

His 19 Bundesliga appearances have yielded two goals and five assists, with both goals coming in his last two matches and four of the other direct goal contributions coming since late January.

He is out of contract at Bremen in the summer of 2022 and that is likely to mean his potential fee dropping this summer.

Villa held talks over a potential deal last September and Rashica also saw moves to German top-flight rivals RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen fall through.

Rashica joined Bremen from Vitesse Arnhem in January 2018 and has gone on to make 95 appearances in all competitions, scoring 26 goals and supplying 19 assists.
