Paul Robinson has tipped Aston Villa manager Unai Emery to sanction a permanent move for Cameron Archer in January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said "it is best for all parties" that the 21-year-old leaves.

Archer is one of the brightest prospects to graduate from Villa's academy in recent years.

However, the centre-forward has failed to surpass Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings in the pecking order at Villa Park.

Archer is under contract at Villa Park until the end of June 2027.

When asked by Football Insider if Villa would regret letting Archer leave were it to be on a permanent basis, Robinson said: "Unai Emery has come in.

"There will inevitably be incomings and outgoings there. You have to allow the new manager to make the changes that he wants.

"Archer has done extremely well in the Championship but he has never really been given a good run in the Premier League.

"Is he the quality of Watkins and Ings? Probably not. He might be one day but he certainly isn't right now.

"In my opinion, it would not come back to haunt Aston Villa if they let him go. It might be best for all parties that he moves on."
