Tottenham right-back Serge Aurier is in talks to join Paris-Saint Germain after Mauricio Pochettino gave him the green light to quit, Football Insider understands.

The French champions have made a move to re-sign Aurier two years after he quit the club to join Spurs for £24million on deadline day.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Pochettino has told Aurier he can leave White Hart Lane permanently even though Kieran Trippier was sold to Atletico Madrid last month.

The 26-year-old has been lined up by PSG, who will have to match the price that Tottenham paid for Aurier in the summer of 2017.

Further talks are expected over the potential transfer in the final 48 hours of the window as the probability increases that Aurier will sign for PSG for major money.

The full-back has made just 41 Spurs appearances in two seasons at the club, partly due to a series of injuries and partly to mixed performances.

Aurier played in just 17 of those games in 2018-19, with Trippier the clear first choice in Pochettino's side.

It appears that the Ivory Coast international has played his last game for the club as negotiations continue over his sale.
