Leandro Bacuna has admitted that he endured his ups and downs in a four-year-long spell at Aston Villa, which ended on Sunday when he agreed terms with Reading.

The 25-year-old has penned a four-year deal with the Royals, where he will join up with Dutch manager Jaap Stam at the Madejski Stadium.

Bacuna has been criticised for his lack of form in recent seasons by the Aston Villa supporters and was also mocked for making his intentions clear about leaving the West Midlands to play for a team in the Champions League.

However despite the fluctuating form and having to be a part of the Villa squad that suffered relegation from the Premier League, he has still sent out a classy and honest message to the fans on his personal Instagram account.

"I want to thank everyone at the club for the last five years we had our ups and downs including me, but always kept fighting I learned a lot at the club and thanks to the fans that supported us," he said on Sunday.

Bacuna signed for Villa from Eredivise side Groningen in June 2013 and has since been a key player in their squad due to his ability to play in multiple positions.

The Curacao international is capable of playing at right-back, as well as on the right wing or in the centre of midfield, where he played in what turned out to be his final appearance in the claret and blue against Hull last week.
