Paul Robinson has been left raving over the performances of West Brom forward Matheus Pereira after his late equaliser against Barnsley on Tuesday night.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Leeds United and England goalkeeper says that parent club Sporting CP must have some serious talents on their books to have allowed the 23-year-old to join the Baggies temporarily this summer.

Pereira has been a mainstay for Slaven Bilic's side and is reported to have an option to sign permanently for the club in his loan terms.

Robinson says that the versatile attacker has shone this season and that he cannot believe the Portuguese heavyweights let a player of his talent head out the door temporarily.

Robinson told Football Insider: "Sporting must have one heck of a squad if they can allow players of his quality to go out on loan. He's been such a difference for West Brom, the best player on the pitch by a mile.

"His ability going forward, his ability to keep the ball, to run at players. As I say Sporting must have one very good squad if they can let him go out on loan."

Pereira has featured in all but one of the Baggies' Championship fixtures this season, with three goals and seven assists, eight if you count the cross for Bambo Diaby's own goal on Tuesday, under his belt.

The Brazilian-born forward, who operates as a winger or an attacking midfielder, has played 27 times for Sporting's first-team since arriving in Portugal.
