Rangers are second-favourites to sign West Brom midifelder Gareth Barry, according to the latest bookmakers' odds.

BetVictor have priced the Gers at 6/1 to snap up Barry, 37, in the summer transfer window as his deal at The Hawthorns is due to expire at the end of the campaign.

Cardiff (4/1) are favourites while Aston Villa (8/1) are also in the running to sign up their former midfielder, who holds the record for most amount of Premier League appearances across spells at Villa, Manchester City, Everton and West Brom.

Football Insider verdict

If anyone was to ask about what Barry has done in his single season at West Brom, everyone will say about the incident in Barcelona where he was alleged to have stolen a taxi. That incident has been surrounded by awful performances that has steadily got worse and worse as the season went on until he suffered an 'injury' which most West Brom fans feel is just an excuse for the club to not play him again. Barry is well past his sell-by date and it's hard to imagine that any top-flight team would want him after playing a major role in the Baggies' worst Premier League season in a decade. The 37-year-old ex-England international was supposed to be a leader in the dressing and a cool, collected presence on the pitch. Instead he has been a complete worst of money and will go down in Villa folklore for his role at their West Midlands rivals. Rangers must 100 per cent avoid him.
