Liverpool star Caoimhin Kelleher is set to be at the centre of a transfer race in the summer amid interest from Leeds United and Premier League sides.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, exclusively told Football Insider that there is "huge" interest in the goalkeeper's potential availability.

That interest comes amid concerns about Illan Meslier's ability to perform in the top tier of English football, although it would be considered an ambitious move.

Brown explained that the goalkeeper is not keen to remain on the bench at Liverpool and would instead welcome a move away from Anfield at the end of the season.

Kelleher has impressed when called upon this season during Alisson's absence through injury, and is said to be keen on becoming the first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere.

This has put a number of clubs on alert, as Brown insisted that "any club who are in need of a goalkeeper" have been keeping an eye on his situation.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that the goalkeeper will have the final say over his eventual destination.

"Kelleher is very highly rated," he told Football Insider.

"There's bound to be huge interest in his signature in the summer because he won't want to be stuck on the bench at Liverpool.

"There are question marks about whether the Leeds goalkeeper [Meslier] is good enough for the Premier League and whether they will look to improve in his position.

"If Leeds do get up to the Premier League, Kelleher would be a big improvement.

"But there's interest from clubs in the Premier League already because of his performances in the Liverpool team, any club that needs a keeper will be looking at him.

"There's a lot of competition there, and I'm expecting him to leave Liverpool, but where he goes might be up to him to decide based on the interest."
