Confirmed: International forward eager for Rangers January transfer

Norwich forward Steven Naismith has revealed that he would consider leaving Carrow Road in January and has confirmed that he would be interested in a return to Rangers.

Naismith, 31, has barely featured for the English Championship side this season, making just three appearances across all competitions before he suffered ankle ligament damage in training.

The 45-times Scotland international left Ibrox in 2012 to join Everton before he went on to move to Norwich in 2016.

He has now made it clear that he is considering quitting the East Anglia side and has suggested that he has some making up to do in Glasgow for the way he left.

"I wouldn’t say I have unfinished business with Rangers because we were successful and won a lot of trophies when I was there," he said, as quoted by the Daily Mail. "Unfortunately, the way I left wasn’t great. I still watch all their games on TV and still speak to all the players and staff I know at the club.

He added: "First of all, you need people at the clubs to want you and you need to see what options are available.

"A return to Rangers would appeal. I’ve spoken in the past about Kilmarnock and Rangers and being appreciative for what they did for me as a player.

"I would look at those clubs and see if they were options to start with."

One big obstacle of joining the Gers though will be their finances as there is perhaps little in the bank left after Pedro Caixinha's overhaul of the first-team squad in the summer.

Director of football Mark Allen will be in charge of any business in January while the Light Blues continue their search for Caixinha's permanent successor with caretaker manager Graeme Murty suggesting what the squad needs to the transfer chief.
