David Moyes is seen as a popular appointment as the next Everton manager by the boardroom and the fans, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Merseyside club have “nobody lined up just yet.”

Everton are currently bottom of the Premier League after the opening four matches, with Dyche’s side having failed to win a single game.

The club have thrown away a two-goal lead in their previous two matches in the league, and frustration is starting to mount at Goodison Park.

This has led to Moyes being linked with a sensational return to his former club, where he enjoyed plenty of success.

The Scottish manager took charge of Everton 518 times between March 2002 and June 2013, when he departed the club to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Man United.

Moyes has since gone on to manage Real Sociedad, Sunderland, and West Ham, where he led the Irons to become Europa Conference League champions.

The experienced manager ended his tenure as West Ham boss at the end of last season and is currently looking for his next opportunity.

However, he does face competition to land the role as sources have told Football Insider that Graham Potter is also keen on the position.
