Ronny Deila has revealed that he was “delighted” to see his Celtic successor Brendan Rodgers achieve an invincible league season.

Rodgers replaced the Norwegian manager at the Parkhead helm last summer and is yet to lose a single match in domestic competition.

The ex-Liverpool boss is now on the verge of making more history in the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen on Saturday where he can secure the treble.

The Bhoys were handed the Scottish Premiership trophy after they beat Hearts on Sunday and Deila has admitted that he has no hard feelings towards his old employers.

“I think this has been Celtic’s best season ever,” said the 41-year-old, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“I am delighted at their success.

“Of course, I still have many, many friends and acquaintances in Glasgow, so I am thrilled for them and pleased for everyone at the club.”

Deila moved to Celtic Park in a surprising appointment in 2014 but the fans never really took to him as he won just three pieces of silverware in two years before he stepped down. He is now in charge of Norwegian top-flight side Valerenga.

Rodgers can match Deila's trophy haul later this week having already won the Scottish League Cup and league title.

Aberdeen will lie in wait for the Hoops at Hampden Park as they look to round off a complete domestic season without defeat and a treble.

Celtic’s latest loss in all competitions came in November when they were brushed aside by Barcelona in the Champions League.

Since then they have failed to win just four games, all of which were draws.
