Emerson Royal backed to quit Tottenham by expert after agent's reveal - 'his time is done'
Emerson Royal's time at Tottenham "is done", according to Paul Robinson.
The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, it would be "best for all parties" if the 23-year-old moved to Atletico Madrid this summer.
Tottenham signed Emerson Royal from Barcelona 12 months ago.
However, the right-back has failed to establish himself as a regular starter under Antonio Conte.
Atletico Madrid have been widely reported as interested in signing the Brazilian this summer.
As quoted by Football.London (22 June), Royal's agent revealed he has had an "informal conversation" with Atletico Madrid.
However, he also insisted his client is "very happy" in north London.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: "I would like to see how he is going to fit into Simeone's system.
"I do not see him as a Simeone kind of player. I'm not sure he's a good enough defender. I don't think Simeone has watched much of him this year!
"If he is to move on, whether it be Atletico Madrid or someone else, it would be best for all parties. His time is done at Spurs.
"He has been given plenty of opportunities. He has not taken his chances though I don't think he deserves to be a permanent fixture in that team.
"If Atletico Madrid are interested in him that could be a deal that works for both."
