Ex-England number one 'a big fan' of Kelleher after what he spotted at Liverpool
Paul Robinson "is a big fan" of Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher following his performance at Chelsea.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England number one heaped praise on the 23-year-old for the way in which he handled the "massive game".
The Reds were without first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker for the trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Kelleher stepped in for the Brazilian and produced an accomplished display in a 2-2 draw.
The Ireland international made four saves and completed 85 per cent of his passes over the course of the 90 minutes. (FbRef)
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match (2 January), Virgil van Dijk revealed he's "a big fan" of Kelleher.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Kelleher's development, Robinson said: "I'm a big fan of Kelleher as well.
"He is a goalkeeper that I like a lot.
"It is not easy coming in as a number two goalkeeper, especially in a massive game like that. He is still only 23 let's remember.
"He's done everything and more when Klopp has called upon him. Of course, when Alisson is fit he plays.
"Kelleher normally only gets games in the cup competitions so he deserves praise for keeping himself right mentally. Whenever he gets an opportunity, he plays well. It tells me that he has great mental strength and character."
Kelleher has made four appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side this season.
He has been capped twice by Ireland.
