Keith Hill is in the frame for the vacant manager's job at Bolton Wanderers, Football Insider understands.

Beleaguered League One club Bolton are searching for a new manager after Phil Parkinson resigned from the role earlier this week.

A number of names have been linked with the vacancy at Bolton, but a source at the club has told Football Insider that former Rochdale and Barnsley boss Hill is interested in the job.

Bolton have been in administration since May and they were forced to postpone Tuesday's League One clash with Doncaster Rovers amid welfare concerns for younger players, having been forced to field teams largely made up of youth players so far this season.

Hill, who was born in Bolton, has been out of work since leaving Rochdale in March and he is understood to be keen to get back into management.

The 50-year-old boasts a wealth of experience having managed over 640 games in his career to date and he has helped develop the likes of John Stones, Craig Dawson and Glenn Murray during his time in charge of Rochdale and Barnsley.

Hill fits the bills for Bolton as he has worked wonders on a shoestring budget during his two spells in charge of Rochdale.

He achieved two promotions during his time at Rochdale leading them to promotion to League One in 2014 with the lowest budget in the division and then keeping them up with the lowest budget.
