Bolton Wanderers are plotting a double swoop to sign Nottingham Forest duo Daryl Murphy and Liam Bridcutt, Football Insider can reveal.

The League One big hitters are keen on landing striker Murphy, 36, and midfielder Bridcutt, 30, before the 5pm cut-off for deals today.

A Bolton source has told Football Insider that the club are expecting a busy deadline day after getting the nod for an overhaul from new owners the Football Ventures consortium over the weekend.

Bridcutt has been frozen out of the Forest side this season and is deemed surplus to requirements two years after signing from Leeds United.

Murphy has also not played for the former European Cup winners in the current campaign after entering the final year of his contract at the City Ground.

Bridcutt only made four appearances last season, but Murphy was a regular and scored six times in 32 Championship matches.

New Bolton manager Keith Hill has been given the green light to recruit multiple players on loan today as he looks to beef up a squad that has been stripped bare during the club's financial troubles this year.
