Derby are planning a beat-the-deadline move for Celtic winger Scott Sinclair, Football Insider understands.

In a key development, Sinclair was left out of the Celtic squad for the Champions League qualifier in Cluj on Wednesday night amid interest in his services.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Derby are now trying to sign the former Swansea and Aston Villa man before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Derby boss Philip Cocu is look to bolster his side's attacking options and is trying to lure versatile attacker Sinclair back to England.

Sinclair joined Celtic in 2016 and has won the domestic treble for the last three seasons at Parkhead.

He has made 163 appearances for Celtic, scoring 61 goals and adding 34 assists, but he's never hit the heights of his first full season with the club, when he blew the Premiership away with 21 goals in 35 league games in the 16/17 season.

Sinclair is out of contract in 2020 and would be free to agree a pre-contract deal in January with overseas clubs.
