Everton and Brighton are among the Premier League clubs interested in a deal for Millwall starlet Josh Stephenson, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Southampton and Brentford are also closely monitoring the 18-year-old.

Stephenson, who is yet to make his senior bow, is highly rated at Millwall and has proved a versatile option for the club's youth sides.

He was named the club's Academy Player of the Season for the 2023-24 campaign and could now make the step up to the Premier League.

Sources say Millwall now face a huge fight to keep hold of the teenage sensation, who can play in defence and midfield.

The Lions confirmed in May that Stephenson has been offered a new deal at The Den.

He could join the likes of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, Southampton winger Samuel Edozie and Leeds United's Darko Gyabi in moving away from Millwall at academy level.

Neil Harris' side finished 13th in the Championship last season despite being in a relegation battle in the first half of the season.

Everton

Southampton and Brighton are two academy set-ups famous for nurturing young talent and have blooded several now-established stars in the Premier League in recent years.

Everton and Brentford, who recorded bottom-half finishes last season, are ramping up their recruitment of top young talent in a bid to improve their pipeline to the first team.
