Bolton Wanderers are in advanced talks to sign Hull City defender Brandon Fleming on loan, Football Insider understands.

Bolton boss Keith Hill has been scouring the transfer market for a new left-back and is pushing hard to sign the highly-rated 20-year-old.

A source at Hull has told Football Insider that the Championship side feel they have enough cover at left-back in order to allow Fleming to join League One's Bolton and continue his development with regular first-team football.

Hull City boss Grant McCann has left-backs Callum Elder and Eric Lichaj at his disposal so he's happy to let Fleming go out on loan, despite the 20-year-old managing to make seven appearances this season.

Only four of Fleming's seven outings have come in the Championship, with his last league appearance being the 3-0 loss to Huddersfield Town in October.

The English defender managed to make a total of six appearances last season after establishing himself as a regular member of the first-team squad under Nigel Adkins.

Fleming has come through the ranks at Hull and he made his first-team debut in 2017 in the EFL Cup against Doncaster Rovers.

The loan to Bolton will be the second loan stint for the defender as he previously spent a month at Gainsborough Trinity in March 2018.

The Tigers are currently 11th in the Championship and are three points off the play-off places ahead of facing Derby County on Saturday.
