Liverpool are expected to publish a higher revenue than Manchester City for the 2024-25 campaign, sources have told Football Insider

Arne Slot led the Reds to the Premier League title last season, with Arsenal once again finishing as runners-up and Man City slipping to third.

Liverpool posted a club-record revenue in their latest published accounts for 2023-24 after their turnover surged from £594million in 2022-23 to £614m.

Man City have generated the highest revenue in the Premier League in recent years, but their turnover slipped from £715m in 2023-24 to £694m last season after failing to win a major trophy under Pep Guardiola.

Sources have told Football Insider Liverpool’s revenue is expected to have surpassed £700m in 2024-25, ensuring they generated the highest turnover in the top flight.

Why Liverpool are set to smash their club-record revenue

Liverpool’s financial boost comes as a result of their Premier League title success and improved broadcast revenue from competing in the Champions League

It is understood Liverpool banked around £260m in prize money across the 2024-25 campaign.

The Merseyside giants finished top of the revamped league phase of the Champions League before being knocked out in the last 16 by eventual winners PSG

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been making efforts to increase their commercial revenue in recent years after agreeing multiple sponsorship deals.

Man City generate the highest commercial revenue in the Premier League, with their total standing at £340m last season.

However, Liverpool’s commercial income is likely to be closer to that figure once they publish their latest accounts over the coming weeks, having generated £308m in that department in 2023-24.

Why Liverpool's wage bill increased after Premier League title success

The wage bill at Anfield is also understood to have increased, with last season’s title success triggering significant player bonuses.

Liverpool’s wage bill is expected to have surpassed £400m for the first time, having stood at £386m in 2023-24.

Man City have paid the highest wages in the Premier League over the past few years, but their total dropped from £413m in 2023-24 to £408m last season.

Liverpool and Man City have both invested heavily in their squad this season, but neither of them are on course to win the title.

Arsenal have built up a seven-point lead over Man City at the top of the Premier League table, while Liverpool are 14 points off the pace in fourth spot.
