Nottingham Forest are plotting a move for goalkeeper Scott Carson from rivals Derby County, Football Insider understands.

Derby are ready to offload Carson as he does not figure in Phillip Cocu's plans going forward at Pride Park.

Former Leeds and Liverpool goalkeeper Carson was not involved in Derby's win at Huddersfield on Monday with Jonathan Mitchell providing back-up to Kelle Roos.

Derby are also thought to be in the market for a new keeper which would push Carson even further down the pecking order at the club.

Forest are still looking to add to their goalkeeping options before Thursday's transfer deadline, despite having four keepers on their books at the City Ground.

And a source close to the club has told Football Insider that Carson is a target.

Loan goalkeeper Aro Muric from Manchester City had a debut for forget for Forest at the weekend when he was at fault for West Brom's two goals and Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi is keen to add Carson's experience to his squad.
