Oxford are in talks to sign Brentford attacker Myles Peart-Harris on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

Peart-Harris is well down the pecking order at Brentford and has not featured for Keith Andrews’ side.

Oxford have targeted a move for Peart-Harris to add some athleticism and physicality to their side for the second half of the season.

While Oxford United continue to search for a manager, they are clearly not wasting time in the transfer market either.

Last season, Peart-Harris joined Swansea City on loan, a story Football Insider exclusively broke, as he helped the Welsh side secure a top-half Championship finish.

Here, the winger picked up seven goal contributions in 30 matches in all competitions in what was a decent spell in the second tier for the 23-year-old.

  • Oxford United are currently 23rd in the Championship after losing 2-1 to Ipswich Town on New Year's Day
  • The U's are also without a manager after Gary Rowett was dismissed in late December
  • Nevertheless, Oxford United are still looking to complete deals early in the transfer window

However, it remains to be seen if any of their business in January has any bearing on their eventual finish in the Championship.

How good was Peart-Harris on loan at Swansea?

According to Fotmob on 1 January, Peart-Harris had multiple impressive stats while on loan at Swansea City.

His assists per 90 minutes were reasonably high at 0.22, while he was also averaging 0.16 goals per match.

On top of this, he proved to be astute at defending despite being a winger.

Peart-Harris would successfully perform 0.16 blocked shots, 0.49 interceptions and win 40.8 per cent of his aerial duels per match.

Therefore, if this is added to Oxford United’s squad, he could prove to be a valuable asset for whoever is in the dugout for the rest of the season.

Now, the task for the U’s will be to make enough additions to the squad this month to avoid relegation come May.
