Paul Robinson has claimed Fraser Forster would only move to Chelsea for financial reasons as Celtic face new competition for the Southampton keeper.

The former Spurs and Leeds United shot-stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, shared his fears that the Hoops cannot compete with the Premier League side financially.

The London-based club see Forster as a potential number two to Kepa Arrizabalaga who restored his place in the side after being dropped by Lampard after Christmas.

Robinson suggested Caballero, who has one-year left on his contract, could be coming to the end of his time at Stamford Bridge.

"When it comes to spending power and you talk about Celtic and Chelsea - there is no competition" he told Football Insider.

"If it comes down to money Chelsea will win all day long.

"I do not see them buying him as a number one given where he has been, even though he has done very well at Celtic but I do not see him as Chelsea's number one.

"Caballero is a good backup goalkeeper but he is 38 now.

"I just cannot see Forster going to Chelsea for any reason other than for financial reasons."

Forster kept 17 clean sheets in 39 appearances while on loan with Neil Lennon's side before the Scottish Premiership was curtailed last month and the Hoops are desperate to keep hold of him.

That included a Man of the Match performance against Rangers to help the Bhoys to the Scottish League Cup final.
