Wolves have joined Aston Villa in the race for Bolton Wanderers winger Dennis Politic, Football Insider can reveal.

The Midlands duo are keeping close tabs on the 19-year-old after their scouts were alerted to his performances for the League One side this season.

A Wolves source has told Football Insider that the club are compiling a dossier on Politic as they weigh up their transfer options ahead of the January window.

Politic has been fast-tracked into the Bolton team this campaign after spending much of last season on loan at Salford City.

He has made a strong impression for the third-tier outfit, who were forced to use virtually an entire team of youngsters earlier in the campaign just to fulfill fixtures.

But Bolton bounced back from the financial abyss to sign nine players on deadline day at the start of last month.

Nevertheless, academy product Politic has kept his place in Keith Hill's new-look side and has delivered some exciting performances.

In 11 appearance this season, the teenager has scored against Rochdale and Bradford in the cup competitions.

Bolton now face a fight to keep hold of the rising star, who joined the club at Under-15s level.

They are next in action on Saturday week as their against Burton Albion on Saturday has been postponed due to call-ups for national squads.
