Rangers released a tweet celebrating record season ticket sales and fans are delighted that the Gerrard effects is in full swing at Ibrox.

Following a controversial decision to cut the allocation to away fans to under 1,000, which led to Celtic reciprocating in a tit-for-tat move, Rangers posted a tweet today celebrating the record sales of season tickets.

In a tweet posted on Saturday lunchtime, they said, "Smashing a record for the number of season ticket renewals, already over 40,000.

Rangers fans flocked onto Twitter to celebrate the news, the first knock-on effects of Steven Gerrard taking over as the new manager.

Gerrard has already attracted a huge amount of media attention on Rangers, and transfer speculation has been through the roof.

No-matter who he gets in through the door, one thing he can rely on is sell-out crowds at Ibrox next season.

And putting aside the decision to cut the number of away fans, this is fantastic news for Rangers fans.
