'I cannot work him out' - Robinson baffled by Tottenham player display

Paul Robinson hailed the "top class" Tanguy Ndombele after the Tottenham midfielder made his third successive start in the Premier League last night.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, described the 23-year-old as "an anomaly" under Jose Mourinho after an inconsistent start to life in the England.

Ndombele impressed again last night as the Lilywhites beat Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor, courtesy of a late Son Heung-min header.

It was only the second time the French midfielder has started three consecutive league games for Spurs and the first time he has achieved such a feat under Jose Mourinho.

Despite much speculation in the summer, Robinson believes Ndombele is starting to settle in north London.

"Ndombele has been a bit of an anomaly under Jose," he told Football Insider.

"I cannot work out if he likes him or not. He has been in and out and then we saw him training in a park, one-on-one with the manager during lockdown.

"There has been a lot of speculation about their relationship but the fact that he is playing regularly now would suggest that he is firmly in Jose's plan.

"When he is match fit and capable of playing two games a week, he is a top class player. Spurs paid a lot of money for him.

"I think we will see a lot more of him if he maintains this level. Jose has a big squad, full of quality so you have to maintain a high level if you want to play."
