One of Arsenal's midfielders has committed to life at the Emirates for another season, and now fans will be hoping Alexis Sanchez does the same.

Mohamed Elneny is adamant that he is going to stay and fight for his place in the Arsenal team this season after a tough time since his move from Basel for £11million in January 2016.

The Sun have reported that despite Premier League rivals Leicester making a £10million bid for him, Elneny doesn't want leave in search of guaranteed first-team football.

The Egyptian international played a full 90 minutes in the Community Shield on Sunday as Arsenal beat Chelsea to another trophy after winning the FA Cup earlier in the summer.

Arsenal new signing Sead Kolasinac scored a late equaliser to take the game to penalties where the Gunners cantered to a 4-1 win after Thibaut Courtois and Alvaro Morata missed their spot kicks.

And Elneny is convinced that he enjoyed his best performance in an Arsenal shirt after the game at Wembley.

And, despite it only being a friendly, the 25-year-old has said it's a hugely important result for the players ahead of the new Premier League season.

Talking afterwards, Elneny said, "I am staying at Arsenal this season.

"There has been a lot of criticism recently, and I wanted to prove that I deserve to play for a big team like Arsenal.

"That was my best game for them."

Arsenal will be hoping for a much better season after missing out on the Champions League for the first time since Arsene Wenger took over.

Summer signing Alexandre Lacazette made his competitive debut for the Gunners yesterday and although he didn't get on the score sheet he looked sharp and hit the post with a fantastic effort in the first half.
