'Icing on the cake' - Exclusive: Paul Robinson drools over 'Perfect' Liverpool ace on Thursday

Paul Robinson has been left raving over the recent form of Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after seeing him score for England versus Montenegro.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Three Lions goalkeeper says that the 26-year-old has done remarkably well to come back from his serious injury setback and make a mark not only for his club but for his country as well.

Oxlade-Chamberlain found the back of the net on the international stage for the first time in two years on Thursday, his opening strike helping Gareth Southgate's men to a 7-0 win over Montenegro at Wembley.

Robinson says that you can see the confidence is flowing through the former Arsenal man right now and that his goal was the perfect way to round off his comeback from his lengthy injury layoff.

Robinson told Football Insider: "His energy up the right-hand side with Alexander-Arnold worked very, very well. He took his goal superb, you can see he's a player in form because his first touch was perfect. 

"I think it's the icing on the cake for the way he's been playing. He's come back from injury, he's forced his way into the Liverpool side, made an impact on a team already flying at the top of the Premier League, which is very difficult to do. He's been like a new signing for them. 

"He's got into the international side, started the game and scored a brilliant goal." 

The Ox has been in fine goalscoring form for Liverpool recently, with three goals in his two Champions League appearances and another strike coming against Arsenal in the League Cup.

He has a total of 14 games under his belt this season, only half of those coming among the starting XI for Jurgen Klopp.
