Leeds finally confirmed what every single one of their fans had been praying for on Friday, announcing that legendary manager Marcelo Bielsa was dropping into the Championship to steer them (hopefully) into the Premier League.

Bielsa has managed at Argentina, Chile, Athletic Bilbao, Marseille and Lazio... and now Leeds.

In a world that's packed with hyperbole it's a properly stunning deal and one that has got the whole footballing world talking about Leeds again.

Can he pull off what other managers have come to Elland Road full of hope to do, and failed?

That's to be seen but if Bielsa does succeed in getting Leeds up at the first time of asking it could be his biggest feat to date.

One thing is certain though – win or lose, get promoted or not, it's going to be a thrill-a-minute ride.

Bielsa famously marches to his own tune and has a very definite way of playing – and it involves attacking and scoring goals.

He's already had a huge impact as well, according to prominent journalist Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post.

He claimed that season ticket applications were arriving at "10 times the usual rate today".

That's indicative of the excitement levels that have been reached after his appointment was confirmed.

If Leeds can get off to a fast start, roared on by sellout crowds, with Bielsa playing attacking football, possibly with a couple of loan players taken from his prodigies Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino, the sky's the limit.

It's a hugely exciting time to be a Leeds supporter who have Andrea Radrizzani to thank for it all.

Strap yourselves in Leeds fans, it's going to be one hell of a ride.
