Antonio Conte has clearly hinted he will immediately line up Tottenham in a new 3-5-2 formation as Football Insider can reveal details of his first training session.

The new Spurs boss took charge at Hotspur Way for the first time on Tuesday immediately after being announced as the club's new manager.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider details of what went on at the club's Enfield base including system and selection hints ahead of Conte's first matches against Vitesse on Thursday and Everton on Sunday.

We have learned that the Italian had a look at his new charges for the first time by arranging an 11 v 11 match.

Intriguingly, and in a clear hint of what lies in store for the new-look Spurs, both sides were lined up in a 3-5-2 formation.

This suggests that Conte will immediately deploy three centre-backs against Vitesse flanked with two wing-backs high up the pitch.

That bodes well for the likes of Christian Romero, Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez as well as the fringe defenders like Japhet Tanganga, Joe Rodon and Ben Davies.

However, it could mean Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn are among the early losers, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min seemingly nailed on for the two main forward roles when Conte fields his strongest XI.

Tottenham

The buzzword emerging from Hotspur Way after the opening session was "energy".

Senior and more junior players are hugely enthused by Conte's arrival, the source added, and they are "loving" working with the serial winner already.
