Johnson has 'agreement in principle' to join Wolves after fee agreed
Hibernian goalkeeper Murray Johnson has an agreement in principle to sign for Wolves in the summer, Football Insider has learned.
This site exclusively revealed on Saturday (13th March) that the Premier League club were set to beat Man City to the capture of the 16-year-old shot-stopper.
A Wolves source has told Football Insider the latest development is that a deal has been struck for Johnson to head south of the border at the end of the season.
It will see the Scotland youth international link up with the Midlands outfit for a six-figure compensation fee.
There will be performance-related add-ons built into the deal if Johnson goes on to play for the first team.
Wolves are convinced that the expected capture of the youngster is a major coup.
The 6ft 2in keeper underwent a trial with Man City last month and has also been linked with Everton.
Johnson has been training with the first-team squad all season at Hibernian and tipped to make it at the elite level.
He has not yet made his senior debut for Hibs, where Ofir Marciano is the long-established number one.
But he penned his first professional contract with the Easter Road outfit in January as SFA rules allow teens to put pen to paper a year earlier than at clubs down south.
Wolves' swoop for Johnson comes ahead of what are also set to be significant changes to their senior keeper roster in the next window.
Football Insider revealed last week that Matija Sarkic, who has been impressing on loan at Shrewsbury Town, has been earmarked for the number two role next season.
