Ledley King has taken to Twitter to post an emotional message ahead of Tottenham’s final match at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

The 36-year-old sat in his old spot in the home dressing room for one final time ahead of Spurs’ clash with Manchester United.

Demolition work will take place on The Lane after the match in order to pave way for the 61,000-seater state-of-the-art facility.

King retired from the game in 2012 due to serious injury problems but has always been thought to be one of the best centre-backs to ever play for Tottenham, and he is clearly gutted to say goodbye to his old home.

“Had to visit my old spot one last time,” said the 21-times England international on his personal Twitter account ahead of a picture of him sitting in the corner which is now clearly occupied by current centre-back duo Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

King spent his entire career at Tottenham and made 300 appearances for the club across all competitions, but such was the high quality of his defending, he only ever received nine yellow cards.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men can no longer win a maiden Premier League title following Chelsea’s narrow 1-0 win at West Brom on Friday but they can still guarantee themselves the runners-up spot with a win over Man United.
