Leeds fans are desperately hoping that former Premier League-winning manager Claudio Ranieri is going to be their new manager.

Speculation on Ranieri taking over has reached fever pitch after Alan Nixon, the Sun's transfer expert, made an update on Twitter on Sunday.

With Paul Heckingbottom's future in doubt, Nixon claimed that they wanted a "foreign maverick coach" to take over.

Leeds fans flocked onto Twitter to speculate on who Nixon was talking about, with the majority convinced that it's Ranieri.

Ranieri was sacked by French club Nantes earlier this year but he has said that he would like to return to English football.

Leeds fans would love that to be at Elland Road after his 5,000/1 heroics when he took Leicester to the Premier League title.

The 66-year-old has managed 17 clubs in all, with an earlier stint at Chelsea, leading to jobs at Valencia, Parma, Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan, Monaco and the Greek national team.
